About Sanctuary Stretch

Combining gentle Pilates moves and kinesiological stretches, with breath-work, and spirit-lifting meditation, Sanctuary Stretch is a beautiful and unique way to improve wellbeing and create a peaceful sanctuary within. Sanctuary Stretch is especially perfect for those who have physical limitations due to aging or disability, who are recovering in 12 Step communities, battling addiction, or emotional, relational, and behavioural issues, or those who feel that Yoga is not the best fit for them spiritually or physically.

In a culture where stress and overwhelming emotions are taking their toll on our health and relationships, fitness and wellbeing have changed in recent years. As a society, we are now placing more focus on the mental health benefits of exercise and a holistic approach of healing mind, body & spirit is increasing in desirability and necessity.

Sanctuary Stretch was designed with these needs in mind and is a somatic approach to health for those who want to bring movement, mindfulness and meditation into their wellness practice, to incorporate spiritual principles of faith, hope & love to reduce their stress and improve their mental and emotional stability.  

 

 ​Sanctuary Stretch is a gentle way to move the body to settle the nervous system out of fight or flight so that each member can experience the benefits of mindfulness meditation, reduce stress, manage emotional overwhelm, calm intrusive thoughts, connect to authentic self and divine love, and other mental health benefits. The additional benefits to the body regarding core strength, flexibility, posture and so on, are wonderful added bonuses. For those who also have advanced physical health goals, Sanctuary Stretch will perfectly compliment and support other physical therapy and exercise programs.

 All of our sessions are tailored to suit the primary needs of each individual or group booking. It is so wonderful to hear all our participants say they feel amazing in and after every Sanctuary Stretch session. 

 

Home: Classes
Mindfulness

Sanctuary Stretch uses mindfulness cues to bring focus to the present moment. Controlling our attention in an intentional way develops self-awareness and peaceful acceptance of what is. Plus we incorporate breath-work into every aspect of the

program.

Movement

Pilates is renowned worldwide for toning, lengthening and strengthening muscles throughout the entire body. Gently increasing support around the core and overused joints. Slow mindful stretching works with our bodies, without expecting more than we are ready for. 

Meditation

For busy, stressed and overactive minds, meditation can feel almost impossible, yet when it follows on from gentle mindful movements the nervous system can slow down enough to actually achieve deep relaxation and quality meditative experiences, leaving every participant feeling

sane and serene.
