About Sanctuary Stretch
With Yoga, Meditation, & Mindfulness currently occupying vast spaces in the health industry, Sanctuary Stretch fills a gap for those who hope to incorporate faith-based spiritual principles into their wellness practice.
Combining gentle Pilates moves and stretches, with breath-work, and faith-boosting meditation, Sanctuary Stretch is a beautiful and unique way to improve wellbeing and create a peaceful sanctuary within. Originally founded as an Alternative to Christian Yoga, Sanctuary Stretch has been modified to reach a wider audience for those who have been divided or harmed by religiosity, or who are recovering in 12 Step communities, battling addiction, mental health, relational and behavioural issues. In a culture where stress and overwhelming emotions are taking their toll on our health and relationships, these classes draw on the grace, power and love of the Creator to find healing for the Body, Mind & Spirit.
Sanctuary Stretch is not an injury rehab program. It's a gentle way to move the body to settle the nervous system out of fight or flight so that each member can experience the benefits of mindfulness meditation, reduce stress, manage emotional overwhelm, calm intrusive thoughts, connect to authentic self and a loving God, and other mental health benefits. The additional benefits to the body regarding core strength, flexibility, posture and so on, are wonderful added bonuses. For those who also have physical health goals, Sanctuary Stretch will perfectly compliment and support other physical therapy and exercise programs.
Our workshops for children and young people are designed to equip them with tools to prepare them for any emotional and mental health challenges ahead. All of our workshops will be tailored to suit the primary needs of each community group. We also offer sponsorship opportunities for those who would like to contribute in support of those with financial limitations, allowing them access to the benefits of
Sanctuary Stretch.

Mindfulness
Sanctuary Stretch uses mindfulness cues to bring focus to the present moment. Controlling our attention in an intentional way develops self-awareness and peaceful acceptance of what is. Plus we incorporate breath-work into every aspect of the
program.

Movement
Pilates is renowned worldwide for toning, lengthening and strengthening muscles throughout the entire body. Gently increasing support around the core and overused joints. Slow mindful stretching works with our bodies, without expecting more than we are ready for.

Meditation
For busy, stressed and overactive minds, meditation can feel almost impossible, yet when it follows on from gentle mindful movements the nervous system can slow down enough to actually achieve deep relaxation and quality meditative experiences, leaving every participant feeling
sane and serene.
